Bexleyheath Osteopaths Pickford lane Osteopath Clinic. Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact,
or the application of force that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand. An injury that
occurs as a result of some sudden event, such as a sprained knee caused by twisting awkwardly, is known as an acute injury.
In contrast, an injury that is caused by overusing the same muscle group or joints is known as a chronic
injury. Whatever age or level of training, injury can be an undesirable set-back.
Osteopathy can offer effective treatment and
rehabilitation for both acute and chronic minor sports injuries. Sports performance can often be improved
through helping patients with tight muscles, tissue inflammation and joint stiffness. By assessing the
pre-disposing factors which may be contributing to your injury and giving suitable manual therapeutic treatment, osteopathy
can enable quick return to training and offer exercises and/or training advice which may help prevent recurrence of symptoms.
